Hey there! We’re Jack and Jenna, the lil’ crew behind Honeyroot Photo + Film. We documented our first wedding together in 2014 as a favor for a friend, and we liked it so much we forgot to go back to our other jobs. For six years. Whoops! Along the way, we’ve fallen in love with telling stories. People from all over the world, in a varied bouquet of cultures, religions, races, orientations, traditions and backgrounds have invited us into their worlds to document their stories. It has been a unique experience- an intimate look into the lives of others that two kids from the middle of nowhere didn’t have many chances at otherwise. Every person who chooses to trust us with telling their story gives us a gift. Our goal is to return that gift to you in spades, by showing you a million things to love: about yourself, about your partner, about your kids, about your ideas and your businesses- whatever story it is that you bring to us to help you tell. In truth, the service we really offer is a commitment to seeing each story and everyone in it through a lens of beauty and worthiness. Because if this job has shown us anything, it’s how beautiful and worthy just about everyone you meet is- and we can’t wait to meet you.
Get to Know Jack
Jack is a man of few words. It's entirely possible that you'll go your whole session without hearing him say a word, aside from greetings and goodbyes. That's for good reason, though; Jack is always making beauty in his head. When he's in "creating mode," he's ceaselessly framing, finding light, seeing things in ways the rest of us never could. Jack loves David Fincher films, hip hop, hot wings, our animals (Daisy, Graves, and Benny,) his momma, and me. Jack's the kind of dude who would pick you up off the side of the road in the middle of the night, and somehow make you belly laugh about your car being broken down. Jack is an absolutely brilliant illustrator. I smile to think of all the waiters and waitresses who've found one of his masterpieces scribbled on an old napkin. Jack is awesome, and I can't wait for you to meet him.
Get to Know Jenna
Jenna, on the other hand, would not be described as a person of few words. Perhaps, "A person of endless references to 'The Office' and spontaneous karaoke." Jenna loves to sing, and if you work with us in any capacity, you will be sung at/sung about/sung to at one point or another. Jenna loves any and all of the original Disney movies, but Peter Pan in particular. Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning. She loves to write people letters and give people gifts and reads like her life depends on it. The way to her heart is through sweets or champagne (or better yet... both!) If you bring this girl a chocolate chip cookie, you've got a friend for life. She will make friends with any animal around. Almost anything will make her happy cry, including but not limited to: nice commercials, beautiful trees, movies with good endings, pretty songs, animals snuggling, and (get this) weddings. Meeting Jenna is going to make your life better.
